Position Summary:
Emerald Technical Solutions has a contingent new contract opening for a Journeyman Computer Systems Analyst in the greater Baltimore/Washington DC area. cARMY is the Army’s Enterprise Cloud Environment, managed by Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA)/Office of the Chief Information Office (OCIO) Enterprise Cloud Management Agency (ECMA). cARMY currently offers authorized and operational common shared services in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure at Department of Defense (DoD) Information Impact Level (IL) 2, 4 and 5. Additionally, ECMA has a contract in place to develop common services in AWS at IL 6 with expected delivery prior to this acquisition being awarded. The ECMA requires an Enterprise Cloud Common Shared Services Provider to takeover, expand, operate and continuously improve upon cARMY Cloud Common Shared Services in order to reduce complexity, increase security, eliminate duplication of effort, and increase Army-wide adoption of cloud computing technologies.
This position is located in Fort Belvoir, VA.

Analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to implement and improve computer systems. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations. May analyze or recommend commercially available software.
JOURNEYMAN Requirements: Possesses and applies expertise on multiple complex work assignments. Assignments may be broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks. Operates with appreciable latitude in developing methodology and presenting solutions to problems. Contributes to deliverables and performance metrics where applicable.

- Analyzes system performance metrics to identify areas for optimization.
- Develops technical documentation to support system configurations and updates.
- Implements security patches and updates to maintain system integrity.
- Coordinates with stakeholders to gather and refine system requirements.
- Monitors network traffic for anomalies and potential security threats.
- Configures and manages virtual machines to support operational needs.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software issues to minimize downtime.
- Develops and executes test plans for system upgrades and patches.
- Ensures compliance with industry regulations and cybersecurity best practices.
- Optimizes database performance through indexing and query optimization.
- Supports cloud migrations by assessing compatibility and integration needs.
- Provides end-user training on new systems and software implementations.
- Automates routine administrative tasks using scripting languages.
- Collaborates with developers to integrate new applications into existing infrastructure.

- Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $110,000. - $125,000.
